Default Sticky on how to replace tranny fluid

Can we have this section updated. Just so people that read it know to leave the truck running when you go to refil a second time after going though the gears

Pump the new transmission fluid into the fill/check hole until it starts to come out of the hole, replace the plug.
Start the truck and shift though all of the transmission gears and hold each one for 2-3 seconds, starting in park and continue until you reach 1st, then go back to park.
Remove the fill/check plug and make sure that the transmission is full, fluid should come out at a nice steady rate, if so you are full.

How To Change Transmission Fluid on a D2

Are you talking about this write up under the Write ups & How To's and Must Read sticky? It mentions starting after adding fluid and then checking it to see how much comes on in a nice steady stream. It's been a link on a sticky since 09 and the pictures are gone, but the steps are spot on.

For me I kept forgetting to leave the truck running when I check the fluid level the second time after running through all the gears.

exactly. Just wondering if we can edit that so it says after shifting through all of the transmission gears leave truck running remove fill check plug and make sure tranny is full

maybe just me. But if someone reads that they will probably shut it off before rechecking

never mind

It doesn't say to shut off the truck. Goes directly from "start the truck" through various steps through to "make sure it's full."
True, additional confirmation that you leave the truck running might help, but the directions are accurate as they are.

I have to agree - For someone thats never done this service, the verbiage is not obvious....
Its a simple add to the instructions to completely eliminate possible confusion.
