Default A Sticky on Land Rover Discovery Parts Sources

Is there a sticky on the best sources for Land Rover Discovery parts?

I see some posts with Atlantic British, Rockauto, LRRoverParts, and so on

Any advice on which ones are comprehensive, give good customer service, knowledgeable and good pricing?

Thanks

Depends on what parts your looking for? And also each different company has there ups and downs on particular parts and accessories.

Also, when ordering parts for a 1999 Discovery II, just choose 2000 as your MY. Many places have issues with 1999, as both the Discovery I and II were sold that model year.

LR/Hamal

Thanks. What I'm trying to do is compile a list of Land Rover Discovery parts sources and compatible parts.

What I've learned is the parts for the Discovery are compatible for years 2000-2004 (I think)

Here are some sources that I've compiled

1. Atlantic British
2. BP of Utah
3. Auto Parts Warehouse
4. Rock Auto
5. Geek Parts
6. LR Rover Parts

I've used #1 but have no experience with the other 4 retailers. I believe AB carries a very impressive inventory. I'm looking for something equivalent to a Pelican Parts for Porsches or Performance Parts for Mercedes where people are knowledgeable and service and price (very important) is very good.

There are more sources, including expert specialty shops that service Rovers and import parts from England; dismantlers - who part out Rovers; and your local salvage yard. Plus places like autohausaz.com, www.rovahfarm.com,and britishpacific.com.

With any on-line purchases, I like to use a small credit card I set up for such things. If I have a problem, the card company goes to bat for you and they are pretty good at putting the squeeze on a shoddy vendor. If card is compromised, the credit limit holds down the my risk while I wait for card company to unwind it.

But the person who needs to know about your Rover is you. If you come out from under the truck without any grease on you then ya musta missed a spot....

You're missing Rovers North, BPUtah, British pacific, safari hp, lucky 8, RTE fab, GBR performance, British parts northwest, and a few others. I always suggest supporting actual Rover parts companies to keep money in R&D. Unlike Rockauto which is just cheap parts for any cars.

The other factor to consider is not only the price but the quality and where it is made. As an example, the first reply mentioned a great deal on a D2 radiator with a lifetime warranty for around $158 that weighs around 12 pounds and yet I ordered from from BPoU, made in the UK that costs $280 and weighs 19 pounds. Where is the difference found, in the quality so I would rather buy a better built radiator with more aluminum in it then a cheap spin off made who knows where at 1/2 the price, cause you do get what you pay for.
So spend some time researching what you are buying, don't go for the cheapest price out there.
