You might of blown a head gasket when it overheated.

What did the oil look like when your drained it? What does it look like now?

Call Mike for sure.

Sounds like your truck did a lot of the same things when I had a blown head gasket. Make sure you check everywhere for the leak. We didn't suspect a hg on mine for the longest time because it wasn't really observable and I didn't get any puddles.

Make sure to post up a follow up with what you find/what you fix, for future readers, good luck with your fix.

Default Need help too

I have the same problem, overheating. I have replaced both head gastkets, radiator, and thermostat. Ran fine for about 4 weeks, and suddenly, overheated and all the coolant came out of the overflow. Refilled it, bleeder open, and overheated again within minutes. My mechanic checked the water pump and everything he could think of, (and he replaced the head gaskets so knows what he did), and can't figure it out. Any ideas? Should I take it to the dealer?

Was it a rover mechanic? Maybe he didn't torque the heads right...

When it over heats is it consistent? Or does it rise and then fall? Maybe you have air in the system.

Default Overheating

He is not a Rover mechanic. Works for Lexus and now Honda. I drove it the other day and the it did overheat, and then the temp came back down to normal, but then went back to hot. When he drove it, it just went hot and when I drove it back from him it just stayed hot. It seems to me there is air in the system, but how do you get it out? Or how do you fill it properly in the first place?
Thanks for your help.

Please tell us that you are NOT driving it around with the needle in the RED

Here's a thread on bleeding the system --> https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...tem-dii-23072/

Thanks, I will go try this and see. I always have that gurgling or swishing sound inside the dash, even after refilling it. Maybe I've been doing it wrong so I will let you know.

One tip is NOT to open the coolant reservoir cap with the engine warm...it will suck in air. Did this the other day thinking it was cool enough
