At that $$$ I would rather go with the Ashcroft shifter or a 2004 shifter, whichever I can get my hands on without loosing an arm and a leg.

Heck, I only paid $150 for my 2004 shifter, cables, linkage, handle **** and gaiter.

Disco Mike and I have the AMV actuator. No problems, works great and when I got it was cheaper than the ashcroft shifter. I love my 03.

(Now I hope no one asks how I have CDL and an 03. It's been answered in this thread)

The choice is purely on you. I don't think one is better than there other. Both can seize up. linkage can break or bend, relays can burn. It depends if you are going on a safari or on your occasional weekend excursion.
