Default Stuck In Park

Cranked my 2003 Discovery II and heard a buzzing sound come from under the gear selector. Would not shift out of Park. This happened about 2 years ago and I noticed I had moisture in my taillights. Replaced both rear brake light assemblies. I also have installed a new brake switch behind the brake pedal a year ago. As usual, I open the drivers compartment below the steering wheel and find the F21 15A fuse blown. Replaced the fuse and gear selector works fine. Is this the solenoid in the gear selector ? It worked fine afterward, but it could keep occurring unless I address the issue.

Read the chart on the back of the fuse cover to see what it is for.

anyone know what may cause this. it is happening more frequently.
This seems to possibly occur if the vehicle is being cranked and the brake pedal depressed at the same time. the solenoid is being activated while the vehicle is cranked, so would there be an issue with the solenoid or its connections.

here is a diagram of the fuse box. its F21 15amp fuse.

My brake stop switch went out and keep it in park until I replaced it.

Some years back my 2002 Disco II was stuck in park. The switch on the brake pedal failed. Pending arrival of replacement switch I lifted the gear shift plastic cover and manually released the lock mechanism allowing the shift control to move. Note sure if that will help in your case.

There is a little magnetic gate that keeps it in park.
When you press on the brake - it energizes the magnetic lock and that allows
the gate to pull away and allow a shift out of park.

You can hear the magnetic gate click when it is in park and you put the brake pedal down.

Mine did stick a few times before D2 and I parted ways.
