stumble at idle when warm
2004 Discovery. recently, after the Rover comes up to temp it has been stumbling a bit at idle. takes off just fine from a stop and never has any issues driving.
it doesn't die at idle, just stumbles and the idle RPMs drop. a little tap on the accelerator and it goes back to normal.
where should i start looking first?

Hopefully someone with experience with this issue can pop in on it but they place I would start would be looking for vacuum leaks (because it's free). Specifically I would look for them around the idle control valve, after verifying no leaks the valve itself would be my next thing to investigate, starting with the electrical connection. After verifying good contact, I would then remove the ICV and soak the inside of the air flow path with carb cleaner and reinstall.

i did clean the ICV with carb cleaner. the spindle was pretty carboned up. cleaning didn't really change anything.
i also cleaned the MAF. seemed to help for most of the day but this afternoon the Discovery died at a stop. then the transmission started acting up.
drove it to my mechanic's shop and dropped it off.
i have too much going on right now to mess with it. i figure at 208,000 miles the Rovers due for some maintenance anyway. so, they're taking a look at vacuum leaks, replacing the MAF, all the plugs, and both front O2 sensors. threw a transmission service in there as well.
i'll report back once i have the Discovery back.
