I'm getting tired of my worn out suspension. I would like to take my DII off road more now that I have the summers off. I am looking at the ones available from Atlantic British (Old Man Emu, Super Gaz, Bilstein), any others?. I hear good things about the Old Man Emu for off road but not sure how they handle on road (medium vs. heavy) plus they are pretty pricey.

Besides springs and shocks what else would I need to replace? How does this rate on the DIY scale and what specialized tools do you need? I'm looking to stay around $1000 if possible.

 

I went with the OME HD, if I had to do it over I'd probably go with the medium. I chose the HD kit because my D II has every possible rack brush guard that came with the D II. They ride fairly stiff on road and I'm going to have to break them in to get some articulation off road. The D II does sit nice and level now with the HD kit. I need to find the time to drive the Disco more to break them in so keep in mind my kit is still brand new. I've learned my over the top lesson with Bias Ply Swampers on another truck. The medium's will probably be fine.

 

I will probably go with medium duty shocks, heavy duty is probably overkill for me. Anyone who has installed their own shock/springs care to comment on the process, what it involves and what kind of tools?

 

Either way, you will find both as OME kits on Lucky 8 for $600 plus a steering stabilizer, pretty much the best price around.

Good, now I need to convince my wife we need to replace our perfectly fine (in her professional opinion) shocks and springs.

 

RTE springs and Pro Comp ES9000 all the way!! After the CDL that's what i'm getting. it's roughly $500 plus shipping.
