Default 2001 Disco II - Sunroof gets stuck in up position, but won't close down?

I have a 2001 LR Discovery II with the sunroofs, the front sunroof gets stuck in up position, but will open and close (front to back) and will return to front... But won't close down... I had to disconnect the swith and close down it manually... Any thoughts on what the problem might be and how to fix it? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks much.

I had a similar problem. My front sunroof quit sliding on one side so I would just pop it up when I wanted a little more air. After a few months of doing that I opened it to the up position and it would not close, even manually. I ended replacing the rails to fix mine. Open the sunroof and spray it down with a lubricant such as white lithium grease or silicon and keep the tracs well lubricated.

If you are lucky and that works, you are in luck, might want to manually close it and leave it that way till you can take the time to clean and service both properly.
