Yeah I filled up this morning in SF and it stung a bit for sure. Not as bad as where you're at but 5.59 at Valero is pretty high. I think it was 4.59 last week when I filled up.

Get yourself a bunch of these stickers and place them next to the pump price at each fill up. It won’t lower the price but you might feel a bit better. 😂

A buddy of mine works at a gas station and spends too much time having to peel them off and remove the adhesive left behind. Can't do that to him.

That's why you apply the sticker, and then cut 1,000 little lines into it. It'll be there for the rest of his Presidency

The part that makes me upset is all the gas pumps in TX seem to have 15inch LCD's in them and once you start pumping gas a show comes on or the weather.... Sorry I don't need to pay more for gas to watch TV for the 3min it takes to fill up. Cut the cost of modifying pumps with that crap, the internet fee's and lower the price of fuel! I have my own Smart Phone for a reason! All my vehicles are paid for so I just have maintenance cost, insurance cost, and fuel cost vs say someone with a 2022 Defender 110 and a 1k car note, extremely high insurance rate, and yep they still gotta fill it up like the rest of us. This fuel stuff is stupid, but it's happened before, and I'm sure it'll happen again. Meanwhile I'll just mothball a few LR's for the time being and see what unfolds.

OMGGGGGG the auto-play screens are the worst. I feel that.

Yeah, obviously daily driving two discos isn't the best for fuel economy, but filling them up is still way cheaper than a car payment on something like a new defender, and even those don't get much better mileage than these in real-world use. Our average MPG is 14.6, some friends of mine who have defenders are getting about 16. And they have a $1K/month payment on top of that.

Yep I could certainly see my wife's argument when she had the 44MPG Kia Forte GT, but now she's cruising around in a 2WD Ford Edge and it barely gets 20MPG and it's shaped like a darn jelly bean with hardly and drag to it vs my D1 with all sorts of off road gear 4WD, V8, and I have been getting 13-14MPG on average. She doesn't bring up MPG anymore lol. When we had the KIA yes 44MPG on a road trip was awesome, but it had a note, and since it was a GT the insurance was MUCH higher than either of us expected. So what she saved in MPG with the Kia was offset with the note & much higher insurance rate. The Ford Edge is of coarse paid off, and the insurance is much higher so that evens it back out MPG wise. However the darn Ford Edge is a Ford and it's already had to have a new battery, 4 new tires, so it's been more of a money pit vs any of my 5 LR's lol.

After the Kia then all the dealerships not even having vehicles to buy and then the ones they did have easily had a 10 to 15K markup on them if you were lucky I came to the conclusion new cars are actually more of a PITA vs older ones. Note, higher insurance, afraid it will get a dent, or someone will try to steal it vs an older vehicle no note, low insurance, already had it's virginity taken away in the door ding/paint chip department, and a lower risk of being on Mexico's top stolen car list.

I'd honestly like to look into an LPG conversion. I used to see them all the time in the Land Rover Magazines with Defender V8's, RRC V8's and D1's. But for now I'll just suck it up and pay for the darn gas and be glad I don't have a note or high insurance rate. Also glad I took my Big Bend trip when I did.

Had my TD5 for ~6 months or so.
In this time the diesel price has rocketed "a bit", meaning, filling the tank from empty to full it's just 60 EUR (~60USD) addition to time of getting the D2.
This in Finland.

And from articles I've read, the US production of oil is below the level it was pre-pandemic, but the lack of equipment, manpower, and of course, the desire for more profits keep the production below what it could be to help with the price at the pump.
