Default Surely a test of physical endurance !!!

Hello All,

Not sure how many of you have installed an engine alone and have attempted to bolt the fly wheel to the torque converter through the oil pan access port?? I found this to be no easy task. I got up from the underneather of the Diso to rotate the crank in efforts to line up the flywheel to converter holes no less 100 time. Sure would be nice to have a helper but at 2:00am these are hard to come by and any one out this time of night typically is in no condition to help.

I'm working buttoning up my engine and am having difficulty getting one last Flywheel to Torque Converter bolt in. I was thinking about running a tap in to chase the tread down that is hanging me up.

Does anyone know the thread patter on this bolt?

Put them in all loose then work your way around a second time to tighten them up. If you don't you will have a hard time getting the last one started as the alignment will be slightly off.

Don't put a tap into it!!!
Advice correct.
Put them ALL in loose until they are threaded.
If you can center it with a small stubby phillips that may help too.
If you can get that in the little door hole.

Man, you are doing a great job. That is dreadful.

If you can get a screw driver to push against the flex plate or even the torque convertor - pry it out and in - this man and will change the angle of attack for the screw hole and may afford the threads catching.
The torque convertor will have a little lateral play cause it is just slipped into the transmission.

Thank you all for your help!!

Broke the three bolts that I had torqued loose an it took a little patients to get that 4th bolt in. Nothing was stripped is the main thing.

Got all external components hooked up on the engine last night around 2:00am. Pull the Fuel Pump Fuse and the Ignition coil fuse to crank the engine over a few times. Then I dropped the fuses in and it fired right up. This is an engine that had a horrible tick.

I replace a cracked oil pump, two lifter and push rods that had some odd wear, timing chain and gears (Car Parts discount has som good pricing on these items). I had no marking on my head gaskets so I had ruled out Cyl Sleeves causing the noise. I got all new gaskets, seals and hoses. The Tick is currently gone. Hopefully I'll get another 60K out of it without a tick.

My Oil pressure didn't improve with the replacement of the cracked oil pump so I'm going to install the large filter and see if this helps.

You did a LOT of work.
Congratulations!
Did you get the right timing cover to align correctly to fix the oil pump mis-alignment issue so that your oil pump gears don't crack again????

Where did the pieces off of the cracked gears end up?
