Default Suspension Question

Hi All,

I have a 1997 Disco with 45K miles on it. I noticed that everytime I'm on the freeway and I pass a bump on the road at about 70-75mph the steering wheel shakes and I have to slow down in order for it to stop shaking, anybody have any idea why that is? Is it time for new suspension? or is this normal for a disco.

Thanks,
Gene

Yeah could be suspension or just the steering damper.

Most common fault is the steering stabilizer, past that steering wear, low air pressure or lack of front diff service especially for the front end pre load.
Buy a Old Man Emu stabilizer for starters.

Exclamation Two questions...

Didn't mean to bring this thread back around but, I'm also changing out the steering damper this week and would like to get a good one. (I bought a cheap damper last year- it and the bushings are shot).

1. Which Manufacture should I get for a good quality?
AB sells a few different manufactures with a 30 to 40 dollar spread between them. Whats the main differance.

(FYI- I've already changed out all of the shocks and springs with LR dearship OEM parts last winter. -Just because of age. you-know the rear end sag'n-). I do tow abit and I have a Motorcycle hitch mount rack for my "Scooter"- Yeah I said it Scooter....

2. Pog760- You have 45K on a 97 disco?!?!?! Did you find that truck in some old ladies barn?

I've dug up some old treads on persons with LOW Mileage vs year. I think this takes the cake!!!
