Swapping seats out
I have searched the forum, but can't find anyones 'adventure' in changing the seats out... I own a 02 Disco and it has the vinyl seats. I have the heater switches etc but the seats are not equipped and are well worn. I have found a full set of front / rear leather seats for 550.00 (think its good) and they look like they are less worn that what I have.
Quest I have is how easy is this and do I need any special tools? I have the RAVE manual and it says torx for the the bolts... but doesn't give me the size and the trim rivets are just pull (I think). I like the idea of getting the seats upgraded but want to make sure this is not a MAJOR job and maybe someone who has done it... can let me know if there are any gottchas.
Thanks for the help.

Just did the same thing and it's a simple remove and replace. 4 bolts per seat and and the wiring connectors. Bolts are inverted Torx and three of four thread into the body, the outside rear bolt is retained by a nut reached under the floor. Have a breaker bar handy for the rears. I think all D2's used the same basic seats.

Thanks... I had not thought of that.
I did the same thing. I had cloth seats and found a full set of leather for $150. The only real difficulty items were:
The salvaged vehicle, with leather seats, had a dead battery. Power was needed to adjust the position to access the bolts.
The cloth seats were manual. The power ports were there, but no place to put the switches...thus they are tucked under the front seats.

Cheapest and best way to refinish your seats are with these:
Cabela's TrailGear Seat Covers : Cabela's
They fit well and look nice as well.

So if a guy wanted to swap ina set of fronts that were supportive and comfortable for more than two hours at a time, where would he turn?
has anyone ever swapped in a set of seats worth a **** into these?
Love the leather, love love love many things about this rig, but the Bourbon was MUCH more comfortable all day than the Landy...
Hell, my Dart is aces more comfy than the landy. But $2500 apiece for the RAM LongHorn seats I crave... well, that's out of the budget.

wonder if throwing a nice little gel cushion under one of those would make it even more comfortable?
