Default Switched to Royal Purple...started leaking

I'm not upset as I had a very slight knock that went away when I changed to royal purple 10w40 but I did not leak a drop before (park in a garage with a tile floor) and now I have a very small puddle every time I look. I'm guessing the Royal Purple just cleaned my seals of the buildup that was keeping them from leaking.

How hard is it to change these seals?

Also I'm starting to notice a rattle or some sort of noise when I switch from park to reverse and the rattle only happens in reverse (or else it is only loud enough to notice then).

personally i am not a fan of RP at all.

i would have recommended either Amsoil or Mobil 1 high mileage. both are superb oils.

the Amsoil along with being a fantastic oil is also recommended for flat tappet engines, which ours is.

the Mobil 1 HM has a seal conditioner that might have prevented this. but as is the case when switching from any dino oil to a synthetic there may be some leakage. it should go away in time. i would not worry too much into it.

KBW,
didn't you get enough feed back from the LRO to satisfiy you?
There is nothing wrong with Royal Purple and it is a long known fact that switching over from dino can cause bad or loose gaskets to leak. Might want to start working on correcting your leaks.

Very few at LRO seem to be able to offer feedback without being a complete ****. And over there for every helpful person there seems to be 2 that want to stir the pot and start drama. I remember now why I spent most of my time here, and am very glad they got the threads sorted out here. You can't even talk about stickers over there without a big rash of shyte! And the Oil thread that Jupiter and I had contributed to got hijacked and turned into what looks like a name-calling contest between teenage girls. They talk more about miscellaneous shyte over there and less about Land Rovers, and when they do talk about Land Rovers they just attack one-another. You know that Mike, I saw in a recent thread where the "machine" that is LRO was turned on you.

I don't blame KBW for reposting his question/concern here!

I leaked a little bit after the switch, I would leave it alone for a while and see if the seals swell back up.

The leaking will go away, just keep a close eye on the oil level.
Mine leaked like a colander for the first 12,000 miles or so and then it stopped.
I use Mobil 1.

49,000 now I should update my sig..

And my engine only leaked for about a week, and not very much..
The Transfer Case.. I fear will require a new seal at least... Hope the output shaft didnt get pitted from sitting idle for so long..

Sorry,
I spoke out without reading all of both posts.
Exactly what seals or where is the engine leaking?
