Default Symptoms/no start/stall

I just got the D2 started, but it was acting as if it had no gas. Turning over fine. It seems like Crank Position Sensor issue.

in addition, I had a random stall a couple weeks back, started right up after, has acted normally since.

I had a leaking elbow pipe after geadgaskets and was getting some misfires around that time, since replacement, no codes.

what I am wondering is if it is possible that the hot coolant from the leaking elbow pipe has fouled the camshaft position sensor.

Has anyone had a camshaft position sensor go bad?

I doubt the coolant could really get in to the cam position sensor from an exterior drip above it.

I believe you're right, also if you have a bad CPS the truck will not crank correct?

I think it has to do with the injectors/fuel line, and lucky me, I get to take my intake manifold off to redo the drivers side head gasket!

I can't say for sure, but I think a D2 will run(misfiring)with a bad cps, as some other vehicles will. And of course sometimes they just die altogether, and it won't run at all.

Look at it this way,
when...if, we ever completely fix our D2's,
we should be Land Rover Mechanics by then!

The engine will crank over with bad Crank Position Sensor....normally...just won't start...unless intermittent.

Brian.
It sounds like my new CPS was not really an upgrade. We'll see. I have to redo the LH HG so I will get a good look at the fuel line and INjectors, sort of thinking one is allowing air in, or the fuel rail is not connected well enough.

This is what I keep telling myself! a 4.8 with upgraded Cam is sounding better and better every day! But I think I dicked up the torquing process on the LH side. How? I have no idea, but the truck has not overheated, the head was professionally checked, and the block is Turner so I believe the surface is flat, but am going to try and rent a tool to check.

What are you trying to check?

If the fuel is being delivered to the inectors/Motor, somehow rail is emptying due to a leak, and causing delayed start. If it looks normal I may swap out the CPS while the intake manifold is off. It's a standard motor products which I have not had issues with their coilpacks.
