taking a long trip and may need help
hey all....well tomorrow i'm taking the LR from NY to TX. I'm a triple A member but it would be nice if i had a few people on the way with a garage where i could pull into if disaster happened.
The below freezing temps here mean i cannot complete all the things i wanted to get done (as well as all the things i have done) before leaving.
120,000 miles with original HG and driveshaft...not too mention the original water hose with the old style bleeder (sorry mike, soon i promise!)
So the route i'll be taking will be I88 S from binghamton NY then I40 W (Knoxville) to Little Rock, then I30 W to Dallas FW which is the final destination.
Hopefully it will be an uneventful trip. I have plenty of tools and a good jack with me.
Returning to NY in a few days.
Mike....Can i take your phone # with me in case of emergency?
thanks to anyone considering

Safe trip! I've done quite a few long range trips in my Disco, and it's never let me down, hopefully yours will act the same. If, for some reason you happen to find yourself stuck near the middle of North Carolina, PM me, and I'll try and help out.
cheers,
rich
PS. fix that drive shaft!

Well - 4 months ago I did Chicago to Phoenix in 2 1/2 days with the Rover and a rebuilt engine.
I couldn't tell you what was around me cause I kept staring at the TEMP gauge JUST IN CASE!
Made it though - without really any problems besides putting a quart or two of oil in (had a leaky front crank seal!)
Oh, it cost me like $320-350 in gas too!!!!
Good luck!

you should get a cheap real time diagnostics tool from the local auto store, one with an LCD etc. just plug it into the OBD-II port and put it on the dash and keep an eye on all your pressures, temps etc. might make the drive a little more relaxing hehe
