Noticed a few things the Discovery does not have; A satellite receiver and temperature gauge for outside weather. Yeah, the little compass in the rear view mirror is neat, I would like a little more. Does anyone have any tech upgrades or add on's they would like to share?
I upgraded to a Kenwood 7” or so touch screen head unit. Satellite, apple car play etc. Nice having something that new cars come with. Maybe better than some new cars.
The sat antenna is flat circle approximately 1.5”. 1/4“ in height. Truthfully I use the SiriusXM phone app connecting in with cable for apple play majority of the time as well as the gps maps on phone that are displayed on the head unit. These days it’s wireless and no need for cable but I like that it charges at the same time. Hope that answers your questions.
Disco's were available with SatNav in 03-04, same units used in Porsche's and Ferrari's. Quaint now given our massive touchscreen phablet's we all carry around. I've had three with the units, they actually still work although it is a little hilarious to use.
You can get the outside temp by pressing "EXT" = External Temp
if the poster is not aware, it is on the Climate Control, all the way on the right side bottom. You can also turn it from Metric to Standard and vice versa by pushing that button simultaneously with the power button

Did you do a thread on this? Which Kenwood model did you use? I'm interested in going this route...
I had a local car stereo shop install a double din modern deck in my D2. Gave me Car Play (Apple and Android), front and rear cameras that display via the stereo, upgraded speakers and amp, front and rear facing "dash cams", and USB power ports.
For me those updates got the D2 to where we wanted it to be for a road trip vehicle. I use offline maps when off roading via my phone which is handy.
Sounds like Sean has THE system! Sean can you let us know what gear you used. Did you need mods to doors, rear subs etc
i have a Kenwood DDX9904S. Several years old at this point but I liked that it had no ***** etc...clean looking.
Holding the gear up with my hand due to replacing the climate control and upsetting the glue holding everything in properly. Next on my to do list.
