Temperature thread- i think my disco runs hot ;)
The rover before the offroad incident ran 185 at idle without the A/c on- if the ac was on and idling it got way hotter 220 some times but thats with stop and go bad traffic. fast forward to now
went offroad last week and got a good amount of mud on the truck. I have been washing off the mud from what area of the radiator that i could get, did some last night.
this afternoon while at the drive through i had the ac on and i thought everything was fine till i heard some pinging, i thought it was rather odd and turned on torque to check temps- 239* and my heart started racing- killed the truck and turned the ac off. waited a few and started to drive home and the temps dropped to 220 and stayed there till we got back. The entire radiator was hot so there were no cool spots()good radiator right?)
washed more mud off/ a good amount more and the truck kept getting hot- tried to replace the thermostat to a 160 and i think i got the wrong one because the temps jumped up fast so i replaced it with the 180 i had before after i added two more holes to it so there is now one at each corner.
i bled the system a few times and i get now after some more mud washing 183 and it stays at 194 while idling for a while.
so i went from a constant 185 to now 183-194.
now my fan has been wobbling from side to side- quite a bit more than normal from what Dusty and Jared saw- so could i have killed the pump or lost efficiency- same goes for the fan clutch. also my top radiator cover is hacked up so the fan shroud isnt a complete seal.
parts from the junk yard that i am looking at are new maf-intake box-fan blades-top radiator cover.

i think i found a culprit, when i turn on the ac the temps instantly jump and the squealing starts i am sure this is what caused the high temps as they went from 183.6 to 190 in no time on the highway same thing on the street but the temp kept climbing to 197 though i had to turn off the ac as the squealing got real bad.
driving temps look to be 183.6 now

Hey Juan,
Is it possible that your A/C compressor is messed up? Maybe the clutch is messed up and adding resistance to your drive belt when you turn it on and not allowing the water pump to turn fast enough.
And yes I remember seeing your fan dancing around like crazy and that didn't look good at all so a new water pump is not a bad idea.
The fan shroud should be as complete as possible to help channel the pull of air through your radiator.
I found a craigslist post for a roof rack with a picture of me in it Thanks for my 5min of fame.

so the truck got 3500+ worth of damages... lsx swap on the rover?lol nah
i think i got it fixed- or i hope. cleaned out rad, trans cooler/ a/c condenser new fan doesnt wobble at all along with the new rad top cover and treated my self to cup holders and a maf while i was at it.
129 out the door at aaa recycling, i must say not bad at all.
also if anyone is looking for the HUGE two front lights that come on the stock metal bumper their rover has it.

Not trying to hijack your thread but mine is getting hot too. I recently changed to coolant hose and when I lifted up the hood this morning I see that the fan has been hitting the plastic cover on top. Not sure why as everything looks like it is installed right. It must be doing it when I close the hood and the hood is pushing the hose thus pushing the plastic cover right into the fan.
