Default Temps are good.. maybe to good?

With the oem stat my temps were 195 highway and max 205 in traffic. Got the motorad 180 and temps were 197 hwy 208 max in traffic. Returned the motorad and got the grey one from lucky8.
current temps are 186 hwy 195 in traffic. These seem to good to be true. I've seen it go as low as 181 pulling away from an intersection.

I run 184 under loa and 194 at idle with the t-stat from lucky8. Your temperature is spot on.

During the cooler months in SETX I can run 182-193F tops with a Britpart 180F or LR Grey 180F Thermostat. Just depends on the outside temp. During the summer it goes up to say 193-209F which is with the HVAC on full blast, and stop n go traffic.

Most likely because your condenser fan isn't running like it does with AC on. Also the fan clutch works differently with cooler temps under the hood

On +30C days, I run at 183 tops. Normal temps are 181 at a light, 178 highway with the AC on. Winter here I'm hoping I can be around 178 at idle, or I'll have to figure out how to get heat

Your temps are good, don't dwell on them too much

I’m not convinced the condenser fan does jack to keep temps of the engine down- I think it just helps keep the refrigerant cooler for the AC system.

However, I think you may be on to something on the fan clutch. My temps aren’t even remotely of concern, but I am not the Borg and thus fear change, so I at a minimum raise an eyebrow when under similar usage I see even a couple degree rise.

Plus I’m using a cheese ball Autozone clutch and a cheaper 180 T stat. I’ve got the Lucky 8 hotrod T stat sitting on the shelf and the next time I need to monkey with the cooling system (I’ll probably flush again in the spring) I’ll put that in and see what it gets me. I’ve toyed with getting the extreme duty fan clutch too, but I’ve read of concerns that it puts addded strain on the water pump pulley, so it’s more of a science experiment than anything.

I’m running two Auto Zone Severe Duty fan clutches on my D2’s with the 620-112 fan blade & zero issues. 188-215F should honestly be a perfectly fine temp range. If your temps rise no need to go nuts, they should go up, and then when you slow down or start moving in traffic again the key is if the temp drops. It normally should if all the cooling system hardware is working properly. If it doesn’t drop & it continues rise then yes you need to investigate! I sat all day long 2 days in row out on the trail at 209F, but once on the move I’d keep it in a lower gear keeping 2200-2400RPM and my temps would go all the way down to 188F because I got the fan clutch to engage & cool it off quickly.

Back in the day the temp range was more like 195-230F lol so honestly anything in the 188-215F range is fine under load.
