Default Test a coil pack?

I am trying to figure out an ignition problem which I believe is an alarm issue. Before I go through the trouble I would like to test the coil pack.

Can you test the input voltage at the 4 wire plug that is secured to the intake? If so, what pins should be checked and what is the proper voltage. Not sure why there are 4 wires either..... Thanks for any suggestions!

Thats's just one way to do it. There a variety of tools out there that allow you to test the coil. Local shops have em. A tool that connects directly to the coilis the best. That way you eliminate the plug wire. Got light - it's working, no light - dead coil pack (assuming there's nothing wrong upstream).

I was wondering if there was an easy way to test the connector just prior to the coil pack. Evidently there are a few situations where voltage will drop causing the engine to quit. Also, the coils can be individually replaced new at about $90 each thru local parts supplier. Beats the heck out of buying the whole thing.

Currently this is all wishfull thinking as I suspect my alarm ECU is dead. [:@]

How about offering a suggestion on the path he should look down instead of just telling him he is wrong?
