I was recently tasked with attempting to fix a friends D2
He had the M+S lights on and it was stuck in limp mode
i read lots of posts across the net and eventually landed here ...
the advice given helped me fix this issue
First off i changed the battery as this seemed to be a huge issue of so many
But this did not fix it, eventually i removed the centre console and all the Gearbox wiring loom, and found 3 wires that had been rubbed through by the metal wiring holder on the top of the gearbox
After i fixed these and reassembled, cleared the faults and all was well
