The Thermostat in Manifold project.
i say we do it because that is where the thermostat belongs in the intake.
I also would rather pull the 4 bolts on the compressor or the two on the alternator, to get to the thermostat. than dealing with shrouds and different hose and clamps.
Galvanic corrosion, HA HA, ha, you should have told land rover about that, aluminium block and heads, with steel fasteners , steel brackets, babbit bearings, brass core plugs, copper heater core. Exactly what metal did they leave out of the caustic mess of metals?

Drow, figure a 180 thermo and go from there. I think 175 would be too low based on where we plan on putting this thing.
Pictures with some measurement.
Note the position of the temp sensor. This will make diagnosing bum thermostat a million times easier.
Also, didn't take a picture of it, but the measurement of the water neck on the side of the manifold is 29.38mm (give or take a couple tenths for rust and the bevel gets smaller)
Now to find a thermostat.
Anyone got a chevy thermo laying around they can measure up?

if it dry out this weekend ill go to the bone yard and pull a lower intake, and drop it at my machine shop to have it fly cut to accept a GM type t-stat.
then it just a matter of finding a usable t stat out let, the intake looks to have plenty of room to drill and tap for a different bolt pattern.
a steel one would be nice you could cut off the stock neck and reweild the tube back on.

Feasible, but the manifold already has cast areas for the bolts. If you stick your finger in there, you feel it.
Not to mention the lack of space that's there. One side (alternator) you have all the room in the world, compressor side has no room to work with.
That being said, lets see what your machinist comes up with. I'm trying to find one now.
