Default Thermostat question

I did a search for this part number on here, as seen on my thermostat housing (which the PO said he replaced recently, but judging by the dirt, it wasn't THAT recent, if at all).

PA6630GF is on the side of the stat. I can't find any reference to it anywhere on the internet, other than a 2012 eBay listing for a Ford Focus thermostat, which isn't even close.

I just ordered an Ultragauge, so I don't know for sure yet at what temp the Disco is running or when the stat is starting to open or fully open, but I was trying to determine if I have a 180 or 192 stat installed currently by looking at it.

Anyone know this one? I am making an assumption that since it is white, most likely a 192.

Smart for ordering the Ultragauge. Just order a Genuine grey 180*. And change out your coolant. Get the Ultragauge installed and see what you are running before you change out the t-stat, just so you can see how great the 180 performs.

Ordered the genuine grey stat just before lunch today. Yes I do plan to hook up the Ultragauge first so I know what I have versus what I get. I will also be putting a new power steering pump on at the same time I do the stat as well as a new belt.

99% sure that old t-stat is a 190. OEM grey soft spring is so much better!

Due to lack of housing discoloration doubt it was installed at the LR factory.

PA6630GF indicates the type of reinforced polymer the housing was mfg from. You can determine the mfg date by reading the circular date code above that number.

Color of new housing not a good indication of temp rating unless it's a genuine LR grey. Most recent white ones sold are 180 F. Did you look for a temp stamped on metal thermostat body inside housing? My old factory one didn't have stamp but the replacement indicated it was a 180 F after a look inside.

Glad to know you have the UG coming and good luck with the PS pump change..

Thanks for the info number9...PO had it maintained a LR dealer, so I assumed they would probably put the 190 in if it had been replaced. In either case, genuine LR grey is on the way from Rover North.

I haven't opened this one up or removed it yet as I intend to get a baseline with the UG first. I'll know after I make the switch...I just feel better with the real deal.

I can't wait to get this stuff changed out, but work travel will delay this project for a couple of weeks...just ordering parts to be ready when I get back.

Found when changing out thermostat or accessing front of engine you gain working space and makes the work easier by simply removing fan/clutch and the lower fan cowl. Only takes a couple of minutes and results in saving much time.
