For some of us it's not about being "afraid of having just one vehicle". Some of us just really like Land Rovers. For me, if I didn't like them I wouldn't have been driving them for close to 40 years.

Don't misunderstand, I adore my Disco. I love so much about it, and I wouldn't rather drive anything else. Except maybe a Defender. Maybe. I am very enthusiastic about it, and it is my only car. But it's not infallible, and some days, when it's giving me trouble, it drives me a little nuts. But even on those days, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

You like the more updated styling of the 04 model, I get that. BUT think about how you express your admiration. You're coming off a bit snooty. A little imperious. It's as if you're saying "Oh, that's too bad you've only got a normal Jaguar XK. I couldn't deal with that. I'VE got an XKR-S."
You may have restored my hope in you people.

I honestly never ment to come off as snooty by any means. And now that I think about it, all the talk about my trail 1 edition probably came off as snooty to.... I'm sorry I came off that way. I'm not rich and my pockets are not filled with $$$$$, I do not think im better than anyone else and my Disco is not any better than any one elses Disco.

But please understand that I absolutely love my Disco, I truly believe in the company despite its flaws, and Im proud to be part of the LR community. Land Rover has become one of my primary passions in life and I strive to learn everything about it. Ive learned so much in the past few years about Land Rover's heritage and now Im only just beginning to understand auto-mechanics and how to perform DIY work on my rover. I have high ambitions and I lust for all the features and innovations LR has to offer, hints my talk about the ACE and park assist.

If I did not believe in my Rover then I would not have sold my second car (former Saab 9-5) and made the Disco my daily driver. I make mistakes both when Im working on my truck and even when Im spending time on this forum chatting with people. Ive said this before and Ill say it again: I love this forum and most all the members here. You have all been a big help and inspiration to me. Excuse my youthfulness and my high ambitions. Remember that we are here for many of the same reasons so lets just get along and give eachother another chance without all the criticizing.

and I respect that about you very much. Im sure there is ALOT to learn from a guy like you. But sometimes some of you members come off as more "anti-land rovers" than fellow land rover enthusiasts. Sometimes it really baffles me and yellodisco is right about if you dont like your rover then sell it.

Oh I know all about youthful enthusiasm. I'm one of the youngest guys on here. I'm only 21!
And I also know that I know nothing in comparison to many of the people on here.

Bah, I'm 23 and you're making me feel old. WD- Did you go to the LR National Rally last year in Moab?

No, I didn't, which is sad. I wish I had. I am going to the LRNR this year though.

Why do you ask?

Hopefully, we shall see. I think it may be in Ouray this year which would be cool, I spent some time in Telluride and was definitely amazed by the area.

First off it has been a year since I was on this forum. My wife decided that MY DII had to go for the 'horrible MPG'. I have had most of the common failures that are known from these trucks. Ironically SHE misses my Rover. Her mid sized GM junk only gets better fuel economy on the highway, and we only travel any distance twice a year. The year and 10,000 mile average for it is 18.4 (4cyl auto). I was getting that in my Rover.

The new car has more squeaks rattles and the worst thing is that I was just locked out of it for a week due the front doors inoperable from water intrusion.

Yes I am looking to replace my Rover. It went places that fullsize trucks with bigger tires couldn't and did it with a humble elegance. Will I be angry when little plastic bits break? YUP!! But I have owned most of the competition at one time or another and that Rover was one of the most reliable in the bunch.
