Default Thinking about buying a 2002 DII

I am thinking about buying a DII. My man question is about relability of the SUV especially if its around 100,000 miles. Anything that I should look for from the dealer or parts that normally break or have been recalled on the SUV. Any help is much appreciated.

Edit: I have read what was recommended to look for in all the models but is there anything specific about DII. Also how do I check to see if the The Self Leveling Suspension (SLS) is going flat?

Reliability is great if maintained properly (ask for the passport book if they have it, if not ALL maintenance records)...with that being said X2 what hilltoppersx said and I would add to ask if any other gaskets were replaced...also check if the front DS has been replaced with greaseable parts...on the SLS, does it stay where you set it?...Great option, but bags can leak and some people convert to springs...do you tow often?

you probably want to look at the sticky titled "major service" also, if you dont have
documentation proving that it was completed you should plan on doing that stuff also.

Thanks for the heads up. The head gaskets were obviously gone on it and it saved me some time even considering it.

Maybe looking at a 2000 DII today but unfortunately there aren't many options in INDY to even consider buying used.

I don't tow too often. I am more looking into off roading and finding a reliable cheap option that I won't get pissed if something gets dented along the way.

Sounds like a D1 or early D2 is up your alley. Huge difference in prices for parts upgrades compared to the 03/04.

So I looked at a 2001 with 142,000 miles on it for 3500. Very clean under the hood but the front bumper needs to be replaced. IS this easy as other trucks or is it more complicated?

Thanks for the help

First off, what will you be using a Disco, be specific?
Second, sense you know pretty much nothing about a Disco, go pay to have a good Rover mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection, it may save you thousands.
