Default RE: Thinking of buying a Disco - Are they as unreliable as they say?

&lt\\;P&gt\\;Polar-You could have replaced your alternator for $200 with one with a lifetime warrenty yourself in under a hour, the MAF you could have changed yourself in 10 minutes. And being OEM parts they will fail again at the same mileage when you no longer have a warreny.&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;I assume that you finaned the warenty with the trk, so at 6% over 60 months and lets say you paid $10,000 for the trk and $3,000 for the warrenty, now finance $13,000 over 60 months instead of the $10,000 and that warrenty just got real damn expensive. You will never recup your investment.&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;And most people dont keep their oil change recipts, warrenty companies will want to see those, so you cant change your own oil. If you dont follow their rules they wont cover anything.&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;I mean no offense and I am glad that it has all worked out for you so far. But for the majority of people they are a waste of money.&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;&amp\\;nbsp\\;&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;What year was your Montero? I had a 2001 Montero XLS, 100,000 miles in 5 years and the only work done was maintenance. Man I miss that trk.&lt\\;/P&gt\\;
