Default thinking of buying. HELP!!!

I'm very interested in buying this '96 land rover that i found. it has about 130,000 mi on it, body is in good condition, interior has some wear and tear but thats ok. Seems to run just fine, they want $3500. My question, or rather questions are.....What is the average upkeep on them?? How much on average is the general maintainance, ie. oil changes, brakes, plugs and wires? I'm new to this brand of car but have always been fond of them. I just dont want to get in over my head. Any advice is much appreciated.

THANK YOU!!!

The cost of upkeep is going to depend on how much you can do yourself.
You MUST use premium gas, it takes 7 quarts of motor oil, tune ups are about $150 if you do it, more if you have someone else do it.
www.atlanticbritish.com and you can look up parts, like alternators, water pumps etc.
You can buy alot of parts at your local autoparts store.
You can expect 12-14 mpg in town and 16+ expressway.
Alot of us get 20+ mpg on the expressway, but that is at 65mph and with a well tuned truck.
Common problems with DI's (Discovery Series 1) is the ABS light being on, the check engine light being on, power door locks not working, cruise control not working and sunroofs not working.
The ABS could be a bad wheel speed sensor to a bad ABS module.
The check engine light is 90% of the time because it needs a tune up.
The power door locks not working is a DIY fix.
Cruise control not working is 90% of the time a free DIY fix.
The sunroofs not working is a expensive fix.
Hope this helps.

Have you checked the Blue Book value on the truck..
Price seems a bit high to me..

You should bring them down at least a Grand..
People arent buying gas guzzlers right now..

most importantly,,,

what do you look like?

i kid i kid,,,

its like any other vehicle. treat it well and you will probably never have a issue. neglect it and it will let you down at the worst times you can imagine.

I retracted my statement.
I tried to copy and paste a page from NADA with the value of that truck, did not work, froze my computer and everything.
