Thoughts On THis 04 S
I have been a long time Land Rover lover (ever since I saw the camel trophy on TV when I was younger) - but have never been in a position to pick one up until now. I have decided to take the plunge and pickup a DII. I have narrowed my search down to 04's and this will be a daily driver/weekend camper/fire trails (nothing too major off-road). I am mechanically inclined (building a race car now) and always maintained all of my cars - so a LR shouldn't be too big of a deal.
Anyways - I know you guys have a trained eye and can tell things are out of place, missing, etc. Anything that jumps out at you about this one: http://www.autoconnectionseast.net/1...er-Discovery-S
Looks very clean overall and well kept. Going to look at it on Sat if everything checks out. Price is a little high, but I guess that isn't out of the blue for Washington state.......

That has been loved on but man, way too $. Heck you could score a nice 06 LR3 at that price.
Or you could buy 2 D2's. And raise some serious hell....

Nice truck, good year, nice colors and looks great. What more can you say other than the price, although it does have low miles and maybe you can knock them down a little I really don't know. A service history would be nice but I doubt it's had much done to it other than oil changes, which is fine except you will be coming up on a major service soon as far as all the fluids, plugs/wires, filters, etc...That with needing to rebuild the drive shaft and possible headgaskets at some point and maybe you can get the price down. I've been watching the camel trophy lately since I got internet streaming video on my televisions. It does look like fun. Tough trucks, but weak differentials. What great marketing though, it makes me want to go out and buy an older range rover.
That is a really clean truck, very low mileage and for a "S" model, it is priced too high, I would go back at them for $13,000 and see what happens.
Also, do a search in your area and see what other 04's are selling for. As mentioned, you will need to replace/rebuild the front drive shaft and the 60K major service is do by time, not mileage, which can easily run $600 for the service and $350 plus for the drive shaft.

Dude went frankenstein with an older rover country it looks like, but man, how bad *** is that suburban!
This looks like a beauty. By finding a vehicle that was cared for you may avoid the typical problems of the breed. Last fall I paid $12K for an SE with 73K miles(in CA) which was on the high side but I felt, since it was a 1 owner truck and over-all very sound, was worth it. And it has been. Remember that the asking price is a start point, nobody pays full price on a car lot. You could pay less for another but inherit the problems too.
That is actually a reasonable deal for this area, with those miles and in that condition. I'd say if everything checks out and the maintenance records are there, it's as good as it's going to get. If you're willing to widen your search area and go up a little on the miles, you might be able to find more options, but I've noticed that '04's are super rare around here. If you haven't already, check Craigslist in Portland.
Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the comments eveyrone.
Yes it is a bit high, but I'll talk him down. I'll be happy if I can get them down to 12-12,500.
I am ok with the S model (honestly less things to go wrong) and I don't need the multiple sun roofs and I'll probably add heated seats. But maybe I am missing something?

Mine has no sunroofs, and I will never have to worry about leaks. The seat heater kit was undoubtedly the best $40~ I ever spent. Just make sure it has the leather seats, and not the Duragrain seats. Only the leather has the elements in them. I can't tell from the pictures as the Duragrain is a fake leather.
