Default Thoughts on a few photos of underside of the pistons?

Snapped a few photos while I had the oil pan off. Everything look OK for an engine with 190k?

Pistons look normal to me for the milage. Not sure about that oil residue on the cylinder wall. Someone who knows more than me will have a opinion.

Cool cool. Pretty sure PO did semi-regular oil changes since in all my adventures with this engine, I've never found sludge, but I do think they were using a Dino oil since ...I think? ...synthetics don't stain the aluminum like this? IDK?

The varnish is a by product of the crappy factory PCV system. Likely half its life was run with that vent plugged up.

Just out of curiosity...what are you doing to this engine?

Just wrapped up replacing the oil pan gasket, front cover gasket, timing chain/sprockets, main crankshaft seal, all the little o-rings involved in that, water pump, power steering pump, etc
