Default Three Amigos Advice

Hi folks...I have a 2000 Disco II with 105k miles. For the past couple years, I've dealt with the three amigos on and off. I used to live in CO, and had an excellent independent LR repairman who was very helpful (and reasonably priced), kept the truck in great condition & dealt with the lights issue (including a faulty SRS sensor...and"de-activating" the 3 amigos, although I confess I don't know what he did to fix it).

I now live in Austin, TX & the three amigos have returned...and are a permanent fixture. They won't go away! I don't seem to be having any brake issues (they were replaced within the last 13 mos) but have always had the brake squeak problem many folks seem to complain about with LRs that don't have their brakes replaced by a LR specialist (guilty as charged).

I'm a "starving student", & the last thing I want to do is head into the Dealership to get this diagnosed/repaired,SO:

1. does anyone know any great independent LR mechanics in the Austin area?

2. is it stupid for me to continue to drive ignoring the 3 amigos? The car isn't usedoff road or asked to perform any "major" tasks beyond your usual in town & hi-way driving....I just am VERY concerned about keepingcosts low and repairs at a minimum (unless necessary, of course) andwould like tobe able to reassure myVERY ****/nervous father that I'm not putting my life in my hands by continuing to drive with these lights always on

Any advice/feedbackwould be greatly appreciated- thanks!

With a D2, you can drive with the 3 amigos on till you can afford to get it checked.
If you stop hard, can you feel the ABS pulsation thru the brake pedal, if so this is good and uour probably won't need any parts.
