Default Throttle pedal frozen...

Hi.
In the morning, with below freezing temperatures, the throttle pedal is stuck, takes some effort to get it unstuck.

Anyone experiencing the same ? Could it be there is a coolant leak by the throttle butterfly valve and an ice bulge forms ? Or something else ?
-22C this early morning... I know it will be harder today.

If it’s ice for godsake take pics.......I’d check the throttle cable itself, disconnect it from the throttle body, and see if it moves freely. If it does then pull the air intake hose off and inspect your throttle body. It could really dirty or frozen shut due to snowballs. You can remove the throttle cable pretty quickly from the D2, and take it inside to lube it. People seem to forget LR had a recall/TSB on the throttle cable getting stiff due to the area where it passed thru the firewall. It caused outer pieces of the cable to break & jam the cable movement. Nowadays it’s all due to the famous Throttle Body Heater being removed, but yet LR never recalled that part when it leaked, and clogged up due to the dexcool making contact with the air rendering the Throttle Body Heater Plate 100% useless.Let us all know what you find and #1 stay warm!

Letting it warm up SHOULD free it, unless your throttle body heater is bypassed.

Take pics of the throttle body.

Sounds like the OP still has it attached hence the coolant leak near the throttle body.... I’m gonna laugh my butt off if the silly thing leaking caused it the freeze up due to the snowball/icy build up surrounding the outer assembly of the throttle body! It’ll be a lime or cherry icy depending on the coolant used lol.

All depends on the coolant/water ratio.

The throttle can stick due to a build up of oil-related deposits. As Best4x4 said, remove the air intake hose and inspect the interior of the throttle body. If you see any material deposits clean the throttle body with carb cleaner. Best4x4's mention of the throttle cable recall is important too.

Thanks.
The stuck throttle only happens on very cold mornings; the suspicion of ice in the butterfly is just a suspicion. That is why was asking if there were similar experiences. It is too cold now to get my hands and camera to dismantle/diagnose/post.
And of course, whenever the weather allows me to do it, the misbehavior is gone.
It is Napa green coolant 50/50, and the body heater is operational.
Will come back at some point...

Edited : Pulled the throttle cable by hand at the engine end and the pedal moves, the butterfly is stuck.

Throttles freezing open is attributed to the "right" (wrong?) combination of humidity and temperature combined with the venturi effect. That can reportedly cause the throttle to freeze open, not freeze shut.

I suppose it's possible for it to freeze shut due to ice, but where would the moisture come from? Perhaps the same place it comes from when there's frost on the windshield but if that were the case I'd think we'd hear about many more cases of throttles being frozen shut first thing in the morning.
