Default Thule 953 Foot Pads and 65" bars

Hey Everyone,

I just purchased a set of Thule 953 food pads with 65" bars for a great deal of 100$ off amazon. I was wondering if anyone has used any of the Roof Baskets on these bars and how they look/work for you? Thinking this is a nice alternative to a full basket which is very costly and not the easiest to take off or store.

Cheers!!

That's a smokin' deal. I think I paid $80 just for the feet! I had a collection of shorter bars around so I attacked them with the cutoff wheel and several pop rivets later I had a pair of 70 inch bars. They work fine for the roof box and ski rack, although I wouldn't want to load them up for a trip through Borneo.

Regarding the baskets, I've never used one but there are plenty of them around. They work fine for limited loads, but they won't handle anywhere near as much as the racks mounted on four stout feet.

Yeah I couldn't pass up the deal. Thought I was going to get some junk since the the best deal I could find just for the foot pack was $140.

I paid $17 on amazon for the new roof bars. The are exactly what you would be $90 for elsewhere. There were two sents available and after I received them and went back to by the other set they were now listed at $90. Must have been a pricing mistake.

Surely not as cool as the full rack with lights and all but I think its a great alternative.

I have a similar setup on my truck, and it rocks. I have a set of super high feet with bars and a half basket on the back. I can't park in most parking garages but who wants to do that anyways lol. Good deal, I paid around $400 for the whole set up. Now I did have to buy an extra set of cross bars for extra clearance so my back sun roof would open but worth the money for sure.

0304 DISCO: How is the Thule 953 and 65" crossbars setup going? I'm a new owner of a 2000 Disco and will need to be transporting surfboards on top. I don't think the pre-installed rails will give me enough coverage, so I'm leaning toward your setup.
