Is it time for head gaskets?
Hey guys,
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
A few weeks ago, I got the SES flash and then steady. I read the codes, misfire 5 and misfire 8. So I replaced the wires. Sure enough, a few days later, misfire 5 and misfire 8. A few days after that, misfire 5 and misfire 8. I then replaced one the of coil packs, as 5 and 8 share a coil and they were always misfiring together. Not 10 miles after the new coil... Misfire 5 and misfire 8. Then, 30 miles later, misfire 6. What? 6? Then, a few days and a hundred miles later, misfire 5. Then 50 miles later, misfire 5.
The truck has 116k on it and the P/O did head gaskets about 5 years ago.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

The truck uses VERY little coolant. After initial top on when purchasing, I've put 1/2" or so in the overflow over a couple thousand miles. Oil is milk free. Have not had the plugs out yet, they were replaced when I bought the truck 4,000 miles ago.
I'll pull the plugs tomorrow night and see if they have any signs of coolant. I'm also thinking of slamming a new plug in 5 just in case this is indeed ignition related and that coil in question somehow beat up that plug before I replaced it.
Anybody got a parts list I should start budgeting for if this is gaskets? (fingers crossed it's just a plug
