Default time to order tires

so i came into a little coin and want to buy a set of tires. i am currently running falken s/t street tires on 18" wheels and will keep those for road trips and summer driving.

what i want is an aggressive snow/mud tire. i do the majority of my wheeling in the winter when the streams and trails are flooded and or covered in snow and slush.

i found a set of 16" wheels at a local LR/jag wrecker. i am also going to lift with a OME kit (still not sure on springs yet). so probably something in the 31 or 32 inch range and M/T rated.

so what are you guys thinking? cooper,BFG, goodyear?

what say you?

The problem with running a mud tire in the winter is the rubber gets super hard and will not flex in the cold and you will skid off the road to your death.
I have ran the Cooper S/T, the BFG A/T KO and the Cooper M/S on my work van in the winter and the S/T is hands down the winner of the three.
The M/S being a close second, it just does not wear very well, did not even make it a whole winter but they gripped really well.
The BFG A/T just plain sucks in the ice and snow.

But if you really want a M/T then either the Cooper STT or the new BFG M/T.

The Goodyear Work Horse is also a good tire but it is out of production, if you can find it it would be worth it.

Look into the Goodyear DuraTracs. I live at 8800 feet in CO and I think they are best of both worlds. I had a set of 245/75/16 that performed great off road and in the snow/ice.

I'm going to be in the market for new tires pretty soon as well. I kind of want to stick with the 18" wheels, so what would you guys recommend for an aggressive all terrain style tread in the stock 255/55R18 size? Lately all I've seen that I like are the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's, and the General Grabber AT's.

Also, this is probably kind of a n00bish question, but is it possible to go up in tire size at all while on stock suspension? Although I like the 18" rims, I'd like to add a bit more sidewall if at all possible.

Sorry for the thread jack...

I thought about keeping the 18s but decided to go 16" as the cost of 18" tires is as much as 16" wheels (used) and more aggressive tires, as 18 tires are limited.

Right now i think the duratreks are tops and the coopers are a close 2nd

I'm thinking about giving these a try:

It's either between them or the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's. The Nittos will end up being about $100 cheaper though.
