Yes, remove the hood and radiator. To me, it's "easier" to move things out of the way than trying to work around them. I'm one who thinks it makes more sense to remove the upper intake when changing spark plug wires.
The best "tip" I can offer, which has been mentioned many times before, is to remove the motor mounts and lower the engine a bit to get to the top transmission to engine block bolts.
Take lots of photos as you remove things, use bungee cords to secure things out of the way as you remove them.
