I just realized last weekend that the tire iron in the tool kit for my 03 diso is the wrong size. The PO put 18" LR3 rims on it, but it looks like the lug nuts are a different size then the tire iron that came with it.

I used a socket to remove the tire, but I would like to have the correct size when I am out on the road.

Is this just as simple as going to an auto parts store to get the correct size?

Yes, get a nice long breaker bar too. Harbor Freight has them super cheap.
