tire pressure on 03 discoII
greetings all. i wanted to get some advise on keeping "ideal" tire pressure in my 03 disco.
i'm fairly a novice in the LR community as i recently purchased a 03 disco.
anyways, the front door specs read psi for front tires (30) and back at (46).
is that right?
why is it so drastically diff?

What size tires do you have?
On my 265/75/16's I run 35 #'s in the front and 40#'s in the rear. Alot of it has to do with the comfort level on one hand and gas mileage on the other. Mine is still confortable , I don't get excess tread wear and my mileage stays up.

i think i have the stock tires- it's goodyear wrangler hr 255 55 18.
is it ideal tire pressure conditions to run on 30 (cold) in the front & 45 (cold) in the back?
i just figured i would probably wear out the treads in the front if i continue to run on them at 30psi.
i want to have a comfortable ride. so i'm all ears to suggestions & opinions.
thanks

At those pressures you should wear evenly, depending on your driving habits. Get a tire tread depth guage and measure your tread in the center and each edge every 1,000 miles - keep a journal. This way you'll see any issues before they are visible to your eye.
Or you could just buy tires with a mileage warranty like I did - as long as I rotate them on time they're guaranteed to last 60k.

Also depends on whether you carry anything in the back or tow. I have an '04, same tire size as you. It's usually just me plus or minus my girlfriend in the car, and I run 30 in the front and 38 in the rear. Up to 45 if towing a trailer.
Some advice about your tires- the stock tires really suck. When you're ready for new, I highly recommend going to tirerack.com and checking out the general grabber sport truck tires (on-road only, don't get them for off-roading). I've had them for 3000 miles so far, they are cheap and amazing just read the reviews. No more road noise and they handle great. We'll see about tread life, but so far some of the best tires I've ever had on a vehicle.

I agree, no matter what you do with the Good Years, they will wear unevenly and won't last long, I have spoken with a number of people over the years and no one ever found an air pressure thgat works well with them.

ihavean 04 disco HSE with same size tires and my oem wranglers only lasted about 32,000 miles. i replaced them with bridgestone dueler alenzas H/L and couldn't be happier. it's like a new car - much quieter, smoother ride. they are a little more $$$ but i'd highly recommend them. got the best price at sam's club. about the same price that tirerack.com was advertising. sam's club charges only$9 to mount each tire and you cantake your vehichle back for unlimited rotate and balance for as long as you own the treads. good luck
