Default Tire pressure question.

I'm running General Grabber AT2's, size 245/75/16 (if memory serves me). Mostly on road. The MAX Pressure for the tire is 80PSI. When I installed them they pumbed them to 40PSI. What does everyone recommend for on-road and then light trail/off-road pressures?

Thanks

-Ugly

35 t0 45 #'s is a good place. They are a 10 ply rated tie and will ride hard if you put too much air in.

TireLoad CapacityWeight on Tire (GAWR/2)
------------------ x -------------------------
Max. Tire Psi x

Solve for x.

I think that the load on the tire and psi are directly proportionate, so this is the equation that I always use and it seems to work fine. The only estimate is forthe weight on the tire, so I use the GAWR and take a few pounds out becauseI rarely have the vehicle fully loaded. Take about 50% out for offroad use (maybe not 50%, I would just eyeball it for that because it depends on the terrain, speed, etc).
