Default Tire size for stock Series II

The plan is to use the Disco II for occasional trail riding and getting to remote hiking trail-heads. The tire is going to be the BFGoodrich All Terrein TA's. The question is howmuch can I fit under a stock Disco...

I like the OME 1.75" lift but am not quite ready to let go of the additional 600-700 $$ since I don't go offroad that much yet. Will the 285/75/R16 size fit without scrubbing the wheel wells in turns or when articulating offroad?

If I did my math right, there's not a chance those will fit. Those are 32.8" tires. Stock is 29". A friend of mine just tried to squeeze 265/65/18s on his DII, which is 31.5" and they didn't come close. The front air dam is the immediate road block.

As per suggestion of Disco Mike, I'm now running 265/75/16s that roll out to 31.5" but I had to 2.5" inches of lift and the air dam is still a problem to be solved by a new ARB bumper to arrive next week.

You don't want to run 285's, it will cost you about 2MPG and a great loss of power, also the factory diffs won't take that sort of weight load.
If you want to e-mail me your tele, I would be glad to call you and talk about it.

Thanks....that's good info. I ask about those bigguns because tirerack.com only had the blackwalls in that size or larger. I finaly measured the stocks last night and, true, they are only 29". I guess the stock size is it, until I decide that I am going to use them enough to warrant a lift or a bumper swap. Probably not until the next set of tires and something well over 100,000 miles since it's my "reliable" vehicle.

You can go to a 245/75/16 that will fit usually with no triming or adjustments, look good on the truck.

I have a stock '99 D II and just installed 265/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires with no lifting or mods. they don't rub at all, but they do come close. If I went with 265/75/16 they would've rubbed the plastic on the inside of the front driver side fender ina hard turn. The "70" 's are probably the largest you'll be able to fit.

I would love to put a 2" lift on her, but i have the air suspension. Is it possible to lift with the air ride still installed or is that something that has to come out. i also have the feature that lifts the rear end when you go offroading. would that be disabled?

You can get 2 inch spacers for the air bags at rovertym.com
