Default Tire sizes.....again

Ok so I'm gonna beat a dead horse here and ask this again....

My plan is to put a 2" - 3" (I'm leaning towards 3) TF MD lift on my 04, along with some good aggressive AT tires. I'm convinced on the treadwrights for a lot of different reasons, but here's the delima I'm running into. I'm going to need tires before I can buy the lift, so I'm running into rubbing issues (or at least worried I'm going to) with the sizes I am wanting...255/70R16, 245/75R16, 235/85R16 (I know this last one will not fit on stock suspension, but it is one I'm considering). My biggest issue is I need tires, but I don't want to have to buy new ones when I get the lift. I'd like to have tires that will look good with the lift, but still fit under me now...any suggestions?

Why not just buy some cheap used tires to hold you over? I just sold my stock size tires on Craigslist to someone in a similar situation to you, after I put my lift/bigger tires on.

Check parts yards, used tire shops, and Craigslist.

I've thought about that one too. To be honest I'm just impatient as hell! What lift did you decide to go with?

x2 on used tires tho. there's a used tire shop that looks ratty as hell, but I put 4 "used" tires on my ford ranger for 100$ mounted and balanced and there's a TON of tread left on them!

2" medium OME from Lucky8 w/ 265/75's. Very happy with it 3000 miles or so in. Ride is firm, but much better than the bouncy worn out stock suspension, handles like a champ off road, much better control.

LOL, I agree, used tire shops crack me up, most of the time the people that run those things are "interesting" to put it mildy.

Are you happy with the 2" lift? I'm stuck btw 2 and 3. I'm worried 2 won't look high enough, but I don't plan on doing any off roading or rock crawling (i know i know, then what's the point of the lift?!).

those tires look good with the lift! Think the 75 ht on the tires will fill out a 3" lift?

Very happy with the 2" I was considering a 3" also after seeing the 2" not looking like much of a lift at all. But the reality is that my wife drives it on a daily basis to work, and (unfortunately) 99% of our driving is on road, so that had to be considered in the decision. The 2" went in no problem with no adjustments or extra expenses needed. It sits up nice and high, and is more than OK for the type of off-roading I do (nothing hardcore).

The 75's will work well with a 3" lift, this is not the greatest pic, but this is a Disco with a 3" Rovertym lift with 265/75's

And I would HIGHLY recommend finding somewhere to take your Discovery off road, you will gain a whole new level of respect for your truck and appreciate it so much more.

You will notice that many of the Disco's pictured have either a trimmed front bumper or an aftermarket bumper. I just did my 2" lift (OME) and put on BFG MT 235/85/16 and found the tires interfered with the bumper. Not much. I trimmed just the corner and it is fine and I intend to replace the bumper anyway.

Yea Windrock is literally 5 miles from my work and about 20 from my house here in Knoxville, so I really have no excuse....other than I enjoy my truck running well and the body free of scratches etc. But I do need to take it out more.

That's where most of my driving is too! I like the look of yours btw

And that, my friend, is a sweet looking rover in the picture! Mine's white so I'm hoping that's exactly what it's going to look like! (minus the bumpers). I just found out I'm having a baby, so hauling a little one (HOPEFULLY A BOY!!!!!!) around in a lifted rover is gonna look awesome!
