Default Tire Sizing

My tires are dead, and I am going to get some new mud terrain or all terrain tires. However I do not and will not have a lift in time of getting the tires, so what would be the biggest size without getting a lift (minimal tire rub with the bumper is ok). I have 16" rims.

Thanks,
Breck DeHart

31" like a 245/75/16 will work for now.

You also might look at 255/70-16's. It will be about the same height, but be about 10mm wider.

Thank you very much. I am a huge exterior guy and know a lot about all exterior things (brush guards, fog lights, roof rack, etc)... except tires. But thank you very much, your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank,

Also, would 265/75r16 work. A little bit of rubbing is ok, because I will more than likely have a lift/leveling kit this winter.
Thank you,

A 265/75-16 is close to 32" tall. That's about 3" taller than the stock size that came with the disco and it will really start to impact the gearing. I just have 30" on mine and could notice a difference in shifting and going uphill. I would stay away from anything over 31" unless you plan on changing your final drive gears.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I will stick with the 245s or 255s. I do not want much to change. I had a previous Disco with 265s however it was lifted with about 1" or so, and they rubbed the smallest bit in parking lots, but never on the road.
Thank you very much,

I have the OME 2" lift on my D2 with 265 75 16 tires with an ARB bumper, and there are no rubbing issues, and they look really good. The gearing has not been that big of a deal with mine. Seems to drive and shift fine. Speedo is about 5 MPH off at highway speeds.

Thank you DiscoKline. I have been thinking about it, and I am probably going to get a 2" lift, so I will be able to get the 265/75r16 tires. However with getting the lift instead of 16" rims, I will still have my 18"ers and will be painting them black. So I will get the new 265/70*r18, which i believe are very close in size. Are they?
