Tire time | 04 disco

goodyear silent armour. Highly rated great in snow from hard pack to 8 inches, at least so far anyway. Great on the highway, softpak to deep sand I have the 265-75-16 and can air down to 13-18 lbs with no issues and traverse deep sand with ease. Never had an issue with mud either. I have a few friends one with a passion for nissans and the other is a land crusier guy they both run this tire as well and all speak very highly.

I have the cooper discovery since Feb. of this year. I have 18" tires. I live in Boston, so lots of snow. They handle ok...not too impressed. My other cars use Nokian wr g2....A VERY misunderstood tire for year 'round. I've had 3 sets of nokians - 2 on my Mitsubishi Outlander and 1 set for my Mini-cooper. I have been able to achieve 50k miles with each set, with religious rotations and meticulous tire pressure. Should have gotten Nokians for my '03 disco.

I put a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers 255-60/18 last winter and have loved them. They handle great, wear is great (still a LOT of tread left), and they are quiet. It has an aggressive look, but handles the road really well.
I just added a lift to my truck and when it's time to get new tires, I'll stick with the Nitto's and go with a bigger size.

Hello!
I've got four 245/75 R16 Goodyear DuraTrac 10 ply 120Q...I'm wondering what pressure(s) to keep them at.
Just checked them and they are 26, 26, 37, and 44.
I dropped into Goodyear and he said they can go up to 80 but recommended all at 50 as these are LT not P tires like the door specifies.
The door says 26 and 48.
My mechanic said to have them all at 32.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

For the rears, the 48 would be used for maximum load carrying and nothing else. I suspect LR used that number to get a higher GVRW on the door sticker. Nearly all 'P' rated tires have a max PSI rating of 44psi, so 48 is a dangerous recommendation for those that don't use 'LT' tires with a higher load rating.
That said, the higher air pressure will help to increase fuel economy and load carrying capacity at the expense of ride comfort, traction (when not loaded) and off road performance. I do mostly highway driving, so I took mine down to 42 to stay reasonably below the 44psi max rating of my tires. If I did more off road / city driving, I'd back down to 36/38 for sure on the rears.
For LT rated tires, I'd do 36 front / 46 rear. I think that'd be a fine happy-medium.

That may be the case for some years, but my 1999 was a very high trim level with Harmon Kardon sound, dual sunroofs, leather, wood trim, and 7 seats with SLS and it came with 16" mirage wheels.

The OP has an 04. I was referring to his quote and remarking on the wheel choices for that year.
Either way it would be helpful to him if he actually KNEW and stated his wheel size rather than "believed" because the answer to his original question depends on this fact which he did not disclose.
