Default tires

I may be opening a can of worms here but I've seen quite a few of this tire size at reasonable prices. Goodyear Fortera HL 255/65R18 Tire U61 255/65/18 What do you guys think of them? After getting this rig up and running, I am not up for spending $1000 to have the best set of wheels at the moment and mainly interested in something that runs good on highway. It has the Yokahama on it now and they sound good but they need replaced soon.

Grab some used 16"s for cheap and tires for them, it'll still be cheaper.

Plus the tires you are talking about on pass. rated tires, if I am not mistaken and won't work on a truck.

Last time I checked the Forterras had mostly bad reviews from just about everyone no matter what the vehicle. I even had a goodyear dealer tell me to stay away from them when shopping for tires a few years ago.

There are several good options and no short cuts to doing your own research. plenty of threads on here to wade through to find something that sounds right for your needs.

Then when you find something that sounds good, google it and get some more opinions.

I've got Nitto Terra Grapplers and they work well on and off the road. Not the best mud tire though.

Default tires

Thanks guys, especially Mike, I thought they were truck LT but I could have been wrong. Doesn't matter as I was wrong anyway. Got home, looked again at my tires and they are 255/65/16. I was thinking that the 65s were all 18s.

I've looked through a lot of threads but most of them are ones discussing trail tires and that isn't what I needed. Don't want tires that roar as you go down the road.

My truck came with Toyo Open Country AT's 255/65/16. Quiet, and good traction on pavement, rain, snow, rocks. Haven't tried mud yet, don't want to climb under it to clean afterwards, at least not yet.

Smooth and Quiet on Highway

Heard many a bad thing about general tires on pass vehicles anyway...

Go https://www.treadwright.com/ man, cant beat the price and they are available in the heavy load ranges... and they GRIP i go through slick mud that you can barely walk through like it was on rails
