Default Tires - Costco ?

Hi -

New Disco II owner here. I need new tires, badly. Wondering if anyone has had experience dealing with ordering tires from Costco?

Thank You!

I haven't purchased form Costco before but I recently did get a set of these from eBay and love them. Cant beat the price.

For a MT tire they are very tame on the street and amazing off road.

Thank you! Those are sweet. That seller doesn't ship to Alaska though, bummer. I checked a local shop and basic Firestones run $725 mounted and balanced. Pretty stupid expensive for something so basic, which is why I'm wondering about Costco. Maybe online is the way to go. Just need to find someone to ship up North.

Lots of the sellers in eBay will quote you for shipping. They just say no to ALSKA in their listings because of the high shipping fees and their listings are with FREE Shipping.

Good luck.

I have had a few sets of tires from Costco over the years. No worse to work with than any other vendor. If I wasn't Alaska I would likely go with a local vendor as I know how difficult it can be to get things shipped to some areas if you need a replacement. Plus when you need your truck waiting on a shipment from Fresno CA on a tire they are bringing in from China could cause a lot of down time. If there is warranty support that is. Also with the eBay tires you a tire shop to mount and balance so add another $75-100 to the total.

My advice would be to pay a couple bucks extra on the front end and get it done locally.

I bought tires from Costco. They will not sell you tires in sizes that are non stock, so as long as you are good with the stock sizes posted on the door you will be fine. Tell them to use a 27mm socket on the lug nuts and to do them manually and your lug bolts will last longer. Many tire shops use the nearest SAE socket on their impact wrench without any consideration for the clad lug bolts. The Michelin Defender LTX M/S, though not the cheapest, are great tires and go on sale at Costco every third month. I put over 90k miles on my last set of them.

I am also looking for tires for my 04 Disco II SE7, but when I put the year make model into the link to make sure they fit, it said "not compatible". Is that just an error in their system?

If indeed they wont work for me, is there an alternative you would suggest?

Go look to see what size you have on the truck since the size is on the sidewall of the tire. With the 18 inch rims the standard size is 255/55R18.
