Tires are so Confusing! Help me Choose!
I'd like to shoot the guy who came up with aspect ratio and all the other tire measurements that make choosing tires so confusing. My goal is to get the largest tire I can with an aggressive off road look with the stock 18" rims as this vehicle is an everyday driving. Oh and if possible, not too much road noise on the highway. I have an Old Man Emu 2" lift.
Just reading the forums I have seen these as options:
- a 275-65-18 or a 265-65-18, BFG AT K/O tire, it comes out to approximately 32" tire
OR
TOYO Open Country M/T LT275/70R18 125P E10 (apparently I need to do some trimming with this one but man it looked good on the picture)
Any suggestions or other options?

I just got a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers. Size 255/60-18. They look great! I don't have them on the car yet, but can imagine they will look better on the car than they do piled up in the back of the car. They are a 30" tire, which seems to be smaller than what you're looking for.
Tire Sizing is simple, just multiply the section width (255mm) by the aspect ratio (.60) to get the sidewall height for 1 sidewall. Multiply that number by 2 (because a tire has a lower sidewall and an upper sidewall), then convert that to inches by dividing by 25.4, then add the wheel diameter (18"). Should come out to about 30.04 inches.
Well quite frankly no I am not prepared for loss of power torque and gas mileage. I guess thats why I post here because those are things I had not considered. So if I am trying to get something more aggressive looking without going overboard and considering I have a 2" lift on now, what what would you look at in terms of tire size without having to regear.
If you want quiet you dont want a M/T.

The following are the sizes and overall diameter that the Toyo Open Country AT II come in. I am leaning toward either the P265/60R18 109T with diameter 30.5 OR LT275/65R18 123/120S E/10 32.1. I think the 32.1 diameter will put me in the bad gas mileage torque issues. I guess the stock 255/55 I have now is 29 inches so with the the 30.5 diameter tire is only an inch and half difference and will hopefully complement the 2 inch lift and not make enough of a difference in terms of mileage and gearing. Am I looking at this right.

In my humble opinion you are over thinking it, find a good tire that you like and can afford.
Any aggressive tire is going to reduce MPG some, its the rolling resistance thats got you there.

I had a really good experience with the Toyo Open Country A/T, I have also had a good experience with the Cooper Discoverer S/T which is what I currently have.
I have had bad experiences with the BFG A/T and A/T KO.
The more aggressive the tread the nosier it will be.
The Hanook Dynapro ATM RF-10 is supposed to be a great tire, I have seriously considered it myself.
