Ok, now that I have studied it a little more, you might get some leakage when you open that plate. But you shouldn't get a lot of oil coming from there. See this thread. His is missing but fluid is not coming out of it while using it.

Awesome. Thanks Jared. I think I'll take the plate off and run the hose through the inspection holes. Let it drip dry and "seal" it up with some duct tape.
Thanks guys!!

you are welcome.
I would just spend the $12 and get 2 new plugs. I would hate for duct tape to get sucked into that hole get wrapped up in something and mess something up.

Also, I have been missing one of those plugs ever since I bought the truck and everything looked really clean in there. I don't know how much mud you get into, but if it looks pretty clean in there then I wouldn't even mess with the water. Just my 2 cents

I'm glad this thread came about. I've been missing that piece since I took the engine out.

LMAO... I just took the inspection plate off and this is what I found.

Knocked it all loose (and out)... Felt around in the inside and there was definitely sand and dirt in there... i'm thinking i'll run the hose through it.

I've never seen anything like that before. That bell housing is packed full of mud. You are lucky you haven't got a rock in the flywheel and broke it all to hell.
