I recently bought a drag car and was planning on towing it back and forth to the track using a Uhaul rental trailer and my Disco II. I have a coil suspension with the v8. The gross trailer weight with car and trailer will be 4,900 pounds. I wanted to get a transmission cooler but couldn't find one for the V8 all the ones I could find say it is for the TD5. Is there a trans cooler for this model? Is there anything else I should consider?

 

You should have a Transmission cooler. They stopped putting on oil coolers at some point, but all have Tranny coolers I believe.

 

Has anyone documented installing an additional transmission cooler on our trucks?
You also have the option of modifying the shifting in the transmission to be more harsh. That should keep temps down.

 

I think Alex May have, I do recall seeing it once but could be wrong.
