Track bar fix
My track bar ends are shot. Track bar? the bar behind the front axle. Sorry if I'm not useing the right name. The passenger side is loose. can I change the ends or do I need to replace the entire unit? The driver side has visible threads for removal but the passenger side doesn't.
I'm guessing it'll be hell to get the ends off. I'm just curious if the the passenger side is meant to comer off at all. Thanks for any help.

Clicking that link brought me to a list of parts not applicable to his problem. You can't replace both rod ends on a D2, only 1 is replaceable. You need to replace the whole track rod (which is the correct term) to replace both ends. Easier to buy an upgraded rod, so you can replace ends independently in the future.

Look at item #3 in the list of parts.

Only one end of the factory drag link has a replaceable end, the other end is permanently attached to the rod.
That said, I ordered my new trackbar and draglink assemblies from Partgeek:
00 2000 Land Rover Discovery Tie Rod Assembly - Steering - Lemfoerder, Original Equipment - PartsGeek
Again, better prices than most, and free shipping is a bonus!

track rod replacement
Thanks for all the help. Looking at the track rod, i'm pretty sure the passenger side is the one that is not changeable and of course thats the one that is gone. I ran into this problem with my stearing rod in the front. no big panic. i'm doing a parts buy from Foundry in the UK next month and they sell the entire unit for $80 US.
