Default TRAILER LIGHT HOOKup

I am so LOST & CONFUSED.
I have a 2001 Discovery 11 that came with a Class 111 Trailer Hitch Receiver. I also have the drawbar and ball.

BUT I CAN'T FIND THE BRAKE LIGHTS hookup. I have been told that i need an accessory lighting adapter kit....I noticed in my owners manual that i have under my right rear tail light cluster a multi-pin trailer lighting socket.

So i have a socket. Is this all i need? DO i just plug the trailer light plug into this socket? Or do i need more?

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I NEED so i can pull a cargo trailer.

And how to install. I do not know why the socket is under the rear lights.....When i haul a trailer this harness goes where??????

You need to buy the adapter that plugs into the wire harness in the r/r qt. panel.
Go look on the web at Atlantic British, Rover Connection or DAP, they should all have them.

Once you get the adapter you will see the plug and
a rubber body plug that you can put it through,
and then silicon it back up.

I got mine from Atlantic British its plug and play.

Hey Mike,

Thanks again for helping me.
I found the item at Atlantic British....
I could not find my PLUG inside the RR tail light. But of course i did not have a flash light and perhaps did not look closely. I read in the INSTALL instructions at AB that i should see a grey mounted plug....I think i did see a grey thing in there.
Again, Thanks

Look hard, you should see it, or reach down inside the panel after removing the tail light, you may feel it.

SO you say it is PLUG & PLAY

I am not that mechanically oriented, but i think i can handle this. Are you sure there is no wire cutting or anything. Just plug in all the pieces?

Thanks,

Gordon

It is a plug and play unless you need a different style trailor plug, and thaqt is easy to switch over, I bought an adapter so I can run the large round plug or the flat plug.

THANKS AGAIN MIKE

BUYING the additional adapter sounds like a good idea. But am i too assume that most trailers are the standard flat 4 plug? Or are most the round 7 plug?
I am glad you are around.

HEY MIKE, another question.

I have noticed recently that everytime i turn on my Disc when it is the 1st start up of the day that my aux fan starts and runs for about a min. Yet when i return home the fan does not seem to start up. Perhaps the engine does not heat up to warrant the fan, but i seem to think that the fan always came on when i got home.
I am assuming that since i hear the fan it is not a blown fuse...or could it be?
I am not sure if any of this makes sense.
