Transfer case trouble ?????
I'm new to the D2 and in all honesty new to working on my own Rover. So bare with me still learning the nuances of these trucks. Resolved cooling system problems, electrical issues, basic mechanical issues such as window regulator and switches, sunroof and few other things. I'm mechanically inclined and can read a manual with good understanding.
I'm not well versed in these vehicles such as mods, issues they tend to experience not do I have any reference material. Still searching the web. So any constructive input or suggestions would be appreciated.
Now to the issue I'm currently having that I may be over or under thinking. Put truck in drive and get very little movement high rev low movement, reverse is same but much higher rev to get it to move. This is in high gear. Place into low gear on xfer box and have movement forward and reverse no problem. Had to repair/clean the xyz switch and still have the three amigos as I found it's called. So I'm not sure if either is related to the trouble at hand. 2002 D2 se7 and not sure if it matters but has special vehicles badging/labeling. 126k on a solid motor with no compression or coolant/sleeve issues. There is an engine light on currently but don't remeber the code(s). I'll update once I have them. Any ideas as to where the issue maybe or steps to start to diagnose? I'm feeling not trans problem as moves just fine in low gear throughout the selector just seems some sort of slippage in high gear. Maybe selector problem not coming all the way back for high gear? Differential issue?
I have not check trans fluid level seems to have a small leak which seems to let a single drop of trans fluid about every couple to three hours. No I didn't sit there watching it. Lol. Time lapsed and old phone. Xfer case is dry as far as I can see other than trans fluid that previously blew back across it. Verified by cleaning both off and letting it sit to see if any seepage. No obvious leaks on diff covers but haven't pulled plug yet to very levels or condition of fluid. I do have an inspection camera if needing to check it that way. Have an autel 908 blue tooth with land rover update. I've searched for answers before posting but may not be searching correct reference for this issue.
Ok kiddo is asleep, showing a 1590 rough road/abs code, p1300 multiple misfire code, and a p102 maf air flow volume low.
Misfire is obvious since it dark out I can see lightning ⚡ under the hood. Guessing the power of Zeus as it fires up no problem and no engine sputter. Purrs like a damn kitten even with the dual 3 inch full bore exhaust the whole way down after the cats.
Maf is definitely dirty so I'll get it off there and clean it yes I know the correct way. You use a q-tip and don't stop until you hear something crack. Or is that cleaning your ears. I'll try both and see what happens.
Abs all wheel hubs are caked in red/orange mud. No idea if calipers are even moving correctly but at least one must be because it stops when it hit the brake pedal.
Also I just got this truck a week ago for $1000 bucks along with a complete parts truck. An 03 se7, I know different motor or at least displacement but may also be donor for the tcase if needed and not sure what's involved in the cdl conversion but I'll get to that as I go.

Here's a RAVE link you can grab it from: https://discoii.wordpress.com/resources/
Typical issues low gear oil in the transfer case and given you you have a transmission leak more likely the transmission. The is really important the truck has to be running but cold to check the transmission or fill it.
I'd start with checking transfer and trans fluids (then axles when you get a chance). Typically, the transfer case is dry, no one checks them, besides the folks on this forum that is. Vehicle has to be running and on level ground to check trans. Set parking brake, start engine and pull trans plug on front on pan, fluid should drain out in a stream about 1/8 in diameter. Do not, repeat, do not cgeck it while not running...if it is full...you will lose about three or four quarts. Plus. Sounds like your about three or four quarts low, if reving the engine gets you moving. Putting it in low range just allows the slipping trans better gear ratio to allow it to move easier.
Neither your 02 or parts rover has CDL on transfer case, from factory.
Sounds like a good old fashion tune-up is in order, after MAF sensor is dealt with.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the input, I do appreciate it. Admittedly I knew I should have checked all my fluids prior to posting but as many of us do. I got a little impatient and excited to get this truck running and moving. I'll update once I have results from doing things the correct way before trying to run a marathon. I've gotten some really good info from the link provided which has helped me find more info. Finished reviewing the tcase files and understand the differences for cdl now. Found great info on the three amigos and abs system diag for these vehicles. Finished reading through the majority of the rave for this truck and a number of other documents.
Again you all are great wish more vehicle specific forums worked this way. I've found different vehicle types/manufacturers tend to have a different category of followers and leaders than others. I believe I've found a great fit with land rovers. Hopefully I can provide some good information going forward.

Ok so my impatience caused me to over think one aspect and under think another. Tcase is fine, interlock works as should H/L works fine. Differentials checked out good as well looks like they may have been serviced very recently. Did replace breather tubes for both front and rear axle housing and tcase. Transmission was low on fluid has a leaky seal and the drain and fill plugs washers/seals no good. Replaced and topped off per the prescribed rave manual process. I know I'll have to do again when I go to replace seals and do full service on trans. however truck moves great. First actual drive since I got it home. Found the cdl linkage sitting in the parts truck I got with it so I'll be installing that this weekend.
As for mods I'm working on this weekend will be building replacement bumper for rear and rewiring new light assemblies. Making roof rack for it with some quality aluminum and yes full length of roof. Pulling out the rigged up fog lights and getting originals working correctly. Otherwise have some nice led replacements assemblies that will work. Maintenance will be fully completed treating the rest of the truck as if none was ever done to it. Hoses, plugs, wires, coils going to relocate them, general under hood clean up. And hoping I can fully address the three amigos. Did manage to inspect functionality of the hubs and the speed sensors. All looks good so looks like abs modulator is next step.
Again a big thanks to everyone. I've found a lot of info and guides. Links to all kinds of information relating to everything I'm wanting at this point plus some things I hadn't yet thought of doing.
As for the spare parts truck. I'm going to look it over and see if anything I just can't do without from it. After that it will probably go up for sale or parted out.
