Default Transmission?????

While driving the past few days, I have noticed that when going over 20mph and I take my foot of the gas for a moment, then press the gas again it sounds like a big clunk in the gears shifting. Could this be the trans downshifting and upshifting? It is pretty lloud, the click. it does not do it from a standstill just while moving. 2003 disco./ What could this be????

How many miles you have? Almost sounds more like a driveshaft/u joint problem. When was the last time your changed your fluid?

It sounds like regular driveline lash. If you're not used to full time 4wd it may seem excessive.

It has 29000 on it. I never changed fluid, but stilln under factory warranty so I assume it was done reg. Just got it a month ago. Could there be some looseness in the shaft?

The Discos all have some amount of backlash in the drive line at those speeds. Whether this is excessive is hard to say?
